BIO

Shannon Peck was adopted as an infant and grew up on Vancouver Island on the west coast of Canada. Her studio practice is influenced by the loss of her birth family and bonds formed during frequent moves of her childhood. Within her maternal ancestry, she is the fourth-generation who is devoted to a textiles practice. Peck uses a variety of textile materials and processes to convey her complex experiences around identity, attachment and loss, with a focus on women’s rights. She received a BA in Classical Studies with a focus on Art and History at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Shannon’s work has been exhibited on both coasts of Canada, and in the United States. She lives and works on a rural property in Chemainus, British Columbia with her partner, a baker and poet.
